Having won the North division of the SWF GC 5+ Level league we entertained Camerton & Peasedown B, winners of Central division, on Thursday 10 September on our Lawns
Weather was prefect and our opponents very friendly so a good start to the day.
However our opponents arrived undefeated in their ‘journey’ to the semi-final unlike us that had included the ever-rolling balls experience defeat on the slopes at Broadwas!
C&P adapted very quickly to our lawns and after two rounds were 6-2 up. We focussed and clawed back in the third round and by lunchtime were only 7-5 down.
Perfect time for lunch and for Marion’s arrival with her cake and cream for us all. Clearly it worked wonders after lunch. In the penultimate round we won three out of the four games, making the score 8-8!
Then in the final round, we won the first two games making the score 10-8 to us, lost the next game, so score 10-9 and then our star player of the match day, Adrian, won his match giving us the winning final score 11-9 !
Privilege to be part of a Great Team the fought through together to win today : Adrian, Ally, Anwen, Brian, David, MJ, Nigel and Stephen. As a result of the win we are now in the Final , which is taking place on our lawns on Sunday 27 September, against St Agnes from Cornwall who beat Dowlish Wake in the other semi-final match.
Victorious Team – note: Stephen B escaped before the photo was taken
