Second SWF Final Win for Bath in One Weekend

The clubs’ AC Federation team of Neil Pinker, David Prescott, Philip de Glanville and Martin Alabaster travelled to Bristol for the SWF final against Garway through torrential rain and flooded roads. The teams managed to start play at 10.30. The lawns were fairly slow and both teams battled with muddy balls and difficulty in performing accurate rolls and rushes. Unfortunately the heavens opened again and the teams retired for an early lunch. Eventually at the end of a wet round one Bath were 1-2 down having won the doubles but lost both singles games. Time for a stirring talk from the captain.
Play resumed and the Bath team, showing their fighting spirit, won three out of the four singles games to narrowly win the match 4-3. Bath were now the SWF Federation League Champions for the first time since 2017.
Both teams gathered for the presentation by the SWF representative, Linda Shaw, and the sun came out for the photographs.
