Short Croquet (Restricted) Team continue their good form
Bath’s Short Croquet (Restricted) team’s position at the top of the N division league table now appears almost unassailable, following a convincing 12:4 win over Bristol at home on the Rec today. This is our third win of the season.
The team consisted of Philip de Glanville (SC2.5), Lynne Passfield (SC3.5), Tony Jackson (SC6) and new comer George Plumly (SC9), replacing Tony Curson who was unavailable. All four won no less than three out of their four games. George in particular impressed greatly, with two pegged out wins against an SC3 and an SC7, and a slightly closer one over another SC9. Clearly his overnight handicap reduction has spurred him on, and he has really taken to competitive croquet in the past couple of weeks! Tony too played exceptionally well, beating Bristol’s captain at Golden Hoop,
Philip was in fine form as captain, with three pegged-out wins (narrowly avoiding a handicap reduction) , and Lynne also won very well and will be down to SC3 for our final fixture against Kington Langley away, on Saturday 20th July.
It seems very likely that we shall be playing the final against Camerton & Peasedown at the Rec on the last Sunday in September.
