Bath Croquet triumphant at Hamptworth
Three Bath members, Martin Alabaster, Margaret Murray and Andy Wagstaff, travelled to the New Forest on Sunday to compete in the Hamptworth one-day Association Croquet tournament. After a chilly start, the weather cleared to leave a beautiful Spring afternoon. The woodland setting offered a lovely environment in which to play and there was a background of birdsong from Chiffchaffs and Nuthatches with Woodpeckers drumming as part of their Spring Courtship.
There were 12 entrants from clubs including Taunton, Winchester, Kington Langley and the home club players. Most were handicapped in the 10-12 bracket with one or two higher and one scratch player. Each player played 4 games, 3 of AC and one of SC. Martin won all 4 of his games, Andy won 3 and Margaret won 2. Martin finished in first place overall and therefore took home the winners prize, see photo below.
