Intermediate AC Team at Nailsea

Our intermediate team travelled to Nailsea for their first match of the 2023 season and as usual our opponents at Nailsea greeted us warmly.

Having had some very hot weather recently the lawns were running extremely fast. Hoop approaches and balls sent across the lawn proved difficult to control both for the home team and ourselves with the highest score in any game being 16 hoops!

We welcomed Andy Wagstaff (16) to our team and in his first session, a doubles game alongside Lynne (12), he enjoyed a challenging match. Together they won, 14 – 9, against experienced opponents Bridget Clayton and Doreen Wallace. Tony and Martin played the morning singles but had to concede to their opponents who won out very narrowly.

The afternoon games were closely fought with the lead swinging back and forth throughout play. Martin and Andy both won their afternoon games but Nailsea were the eventual winners recording a 4-3 victory.
