GC Level play 5+ away Swindon 2nd June
The team’s first match started in distinctly cold and windy conditions with a mixture of doubles and singles. Neil Pinker and Dan Rhodes-Chadder were Bath’s only doubles winners Neil and Sue Duncan won singles games to leave Bath trailing at 3-5 after two rounds. In the third round, Sue and Anwen Owens managed quick victories, leaving the match briefly balanced at 5-5. Sadly the comeback did not materialise. Of the remaining ten singles, only two went Bath’s way. Of the 8 losses, five were 6-7 score lines with Margaret Murray and Katie Rhodes-Chadder both suffering in this way.
13-7 sounds like a convincing scoreline, but there were very few easy wins on either side. Level 5+ looks to have the makings of a very competitive format.
