Success in Opening Parkstone Trophy Match
Bath won their first match of the season in the Parkstone Trophy (Advanced Play) with a 6-1 win over their Welsh opponents Dyffryn. The team of Andrew Willis, Roger Hayes, John Grimshaw and Philip de Glanville were second best on handicaps, but played solid croquet to overcome this disadvantage.
The morning play saw Andrew and Philip team up in the doubles for a comfortable win, and Roger won his singles, to give a 2-1 lead at lunch. This was followed by a clean sweep of singles victories in the afternoon, most notably by Philip who overcame a handicap deficit of four steps.
