Bath Federation North Team beat Nailsea South to win through to the Federation League Final
The Bath Federation North team played Nailsea South for a place in the SWF final. The ever-changing weather from sunshine to heavy showers was matched by some constantly changing fortunes during the day’s play. An indifferent doubles display by Hester Henebury and Richard Jelly (4-26) was more than matched by the excellence of Daniel Gott and David Prescott who both pegged out in grand style (26-11 and 26-20). Lunch: 2-1 to Bath.
Bath won three of the four singles in the afternoon. Daniel again pegged out ahead of the Nailsea HC4 who was catching up while Daniel, having pegged out one ball, spent a few turns shooting at peg with ultimate success (26-20). David beat a deliberate and accurate but slow opponent (23-20) and Hester, conceding 5 bisques, won coming from behind (a Hester speciality?) to beat a tricky opponent (19-15). Richard conceded far too easily to lose his singles by a large margin. A satisfying 5-2 win means that the team travels to Sidmouth to play in the final against Abbey (narrow winners against our other Bath Federation team last month) on Saturday 30th September. Anyone fancy a trip to the seaside to support the team?
