Bath Croquet Success at Hamptworth
Four members of Bath Croquet Club travelled to Hamptworth in the New Forest to play in the January Handicap Golf Croquet Tournament. The tournament consisted of three round robin pool matches in the morning with position after this stage deciding groups for the afternoon, which are again played on a round robin basis. The day was a success with Paul Francis, playing off scratch, winning all three of his matches in the morning to top his pool and all three matches in the top group in the afternoon to finish in first place. Ninette Flowerdew also won her pool in the morning finally finishing in third place with Norman Connor in 10th and Tony Curson 12th.
Bath Croquet club, based at the Recreation ground, is this year keeping two lawns open all winter with 31 hardy souls signed up to play. The main season commences on 28 March 2015. The club will be holding an open day on 9 May and an introductory coaching course for beginners starting on 16 May. Further details of these will be published shortly.
