Bath GC High Hcp V Weston-super- Mare

With the recent dry and hot weather conditions and despite recent watering Bath’s two lawns were running super fast, making it difficult to judge
distances. However this was no deterrent for either team who valiantly took this in their stride.
Weston’s team of six made a sterling show of determination to compete with Bath (handicaps were four players at 9 and two at 12) while Weston’s ranged from 9 to 18.
The score by lunchtime was Bath 8 ½ , Weston 2 ½ .
Even though Weston were down by one player after lunch, they scored 2 more wins during the afternoon. Weston’s Suzanne and Gary Mc Queen, although new to the club played with confidence securing wins during the match.
Mary Godfroy and Nigel Morris of Bath deserve a mention as it was their first league game ever, Nigel won two games at 7/1 and another at 7/3. Mary played solidly and scored decisive wins in two singles and one doubles .
