Short Croquet (Restricted) Team win away at Bristol

The Bath SC (R) team went to Bristol on 12th June for their second match of the season and secured another win, but this time a very close one!

We surged ahead in the first round, but their team of four able and generously bisqued ladies pegged us back in the second and by mid-afternoon we were still neck and neck. A win would require that we got three out of the final four games. Our captain, Philip de Glanville, was dispatched 14:5 by theirs in less than 40 minutes, with two almost flawless all-round breaks to his one, but the rest of the team rose to the occasion; Tony Curson was the first to peg out 14:5, closely followed by Tony Jackson 14:7, and then we all watched and cheered Lynne Passfield bringing in her third win of the day 11:7, giving Bath the victory nine games to seven.

Bristol will will coming to us for a return match on Sunday 7th July.
