Advanced AC Team Win Opening Match
Bath started their first season back in the croquet advanced play league with a closely contended win over Sidmouth B by 4 games to 3. Morning rain was lighter than expected and the forecasted storms did not appear.
The morning games were all going very heavily in favour of Bath until the inexplicable capitulation of captain Pete Miles when at the last hoop. This allowed his opponent back in to snatch victory and give Sidmouth there only win as doubles partners Roger Hayes and Neil Pinker defeated the Sidmouth pair and David Prescott had a very impressive win over Sidmouth captain Chris Donovan who on paper was a much stronger player. In the afternoon singles the clash of the captains resulted in a quick win for Sidmouth to level the match 2-2. Roger Hayes defeated Andrew Thomas to make it 3-2. David Prescott lost his game to Colin Wall leaving Neil Pinker to make a great come back to defeat Ed Dolphin and complete the win for Bath 4-3.
