Intermediate Team Success in Final Match of Season

The intermediate team played their last match of the 2023 season hosting Cheltenham at home in glorious sunshine (photo below in case you don’t believe it).

Our lawns were playing slowly during the morning because of the rain of previous days but both teams soon settled in to find good length with accurate shots across the lawns.

Andy was playing for the first time as a 12 handicap but showed his usual accuracy to produce a close win (20-18). Martin won his game (26- 9) well within time and Tony and Lynne brought in another win (12-11). So by the lunchtime break Bath had crafted a 3-0 lead and with the temperature rising the lawns were drying out and running faster.

Both teams returned to the lawns following lunch with all to play for. The afternoon singles matches were played double-banked with all players seeking out shade whilst sat alongside the lawns as the heat both on and off the lawns increased.

Our four Bath players took convincing leads early in the afternoon games and completed play with a very surprising 7-0 result as this was the first game Cheltenham had lost all season.

Our team is currently a very creditable second in the league and congratulations to all who have contributed to our placing.
