Bath host SW Area Final of GC All England Handicap Tournament

On Sunday 14th August the club hosted the South West area final for the GC All England Handicap competition. The forecast very hot conditions had already reduced the number of competitors so it was decided to make the competition a four round Swiss to avoid playing in the worst of the afternoon heat. On the day eleven competitors turned up so Manager Paul Francis stepped in to make an even number. At the end of the four rounds there was a clear winner with Brian Jamieson of Caversham (5 handicap) winning all four of his games. Paul(1) and Philip de Glanville (3) both won three of their games, whilst Sue Duncan (8) won two.
The top four available players from the tournament are entitled to a place in the national final at Wrest Park in September. Unfortunately the date clashes with the clubs Finals Day.
