Late start but worth the wait!
July 5th 2022
The Intermediate team were expecting to start their match against Weston-Super-Mare at 10.00 a.m. but traffic problems significantly delayed their arrival. Once the match got underway the morning games saw Martin take an early lead and he finished with time to spare, recording a score of 26 to 9. Neil battled to the very end of his match and in his final turn on the lawn took three hoops to win 18-17. Unfortunately the doubles pairing of Sue and Doug Norfolk of Weston-Super-Mare took their game, so at lunch there was everything to play for with Bath leading 2 to 1.
The afternoon session brought changed fortunes for Lynne and Tony. Lynne scored two acutely angled hoops with successful jump shots and hit in three times playing from the east boundary to the west boundary and eventually took a win. Tony didn’t seem to be able to miss a roquet after lunch (must have been the carrot cake!) and recorded a win of 25 to 12 against Peter.
Our day was most enjoyable and the final score was Bath 5, Weston-Super-Mare 2, placing Bath at the top of the Intermediate league table having played 3 matches out of 6.
