Wily Woking edge past Bath
Bath took an early exit from this year’s National Longman Trophy. A relatively inexperienced Bath team were defeated 4 – 3 by a much more experienced Woking team.
At the half stage, Bath’s prospects of a win were fair with a win by Margaret Murray and the Bob Hart/Martin Alabaster pair doubling Bath’s victories. However, Lynne Passfield met an opponent who was skilled at extracting the extra bisques Lynne had available due to the handicapping system.
This meant that Bath required two wins from the four afternoon singles. However the squeeze on bisques was continued and as a result Margaret, Lynne and Bob were all defeated. The only consolation was another fine win by Martin Alabaster who was making his Longman debut.
