Both of the Clubs High Handicap Teams in Action
The clubs two High Handicap teams have recently played away games in the SWF League.
The NW team had the easier journey with a trip to Camerton & Peasedown. Despite generally giving free strokes to the opposition, in some cases significant numbers, the results were closely matched throughout the day. The team of Mary Jane Middlehurst, Sue Andrew, Pete Riley, Tony Jackson and new member Anwen Owens (making her club debut) finally lost 10.5 to 9.5.
The NE team had a longer journey, travelling to Broadwas in Worcestershire, for their opening match of the season. All the team found the sloping lawns challenging but after a difficult first round of games gradually became more familiar with them during the day. The team of Sally Helvey, Kate New, Sue Duncan, Henriette van Deth, Eleanor Easom and Ally Hoyland all contributed to the clubs 10-10 draw. Broadwas are known for not losing many matches at home.
