Hamptworth January GC Tournament

Three club members travelled to Hamptworth for their January GC Handicap Tournament last Sunday. The lawns were very wet, particularly lawn 2 which had some very squelchy patches. Although jump shots were allowed they were virtually impossible on much of lawn 2 as it was so wet and soft. Miriam Bolger was the most successful in the morning round robin matches winning two and drawing one of her three matches to come top of her group. Margaret Murray also won her group, on hoop difference, with two wins out of three. Tony Curson drew the aforementioned lawn 2 but managed to win two out of his three games, giving him second place in the group behind eventual unbeaten tournament winner Bob Channon of Hamptworth.
In the afternoon Margaret and Miriam were both on lawn 1, as a result of their group wins, playing for positions 1 to 4.Their afternoon was less successful with their only win being Margaret against Miriam. They therefore finished in 3rd and 4th places. Meanwhile Tony, still on lawn 2, won two of his three games to finish in overall 5th place.
