First SWF League Match of Season
The clubs GC level team commenced their season with a home match against Nailsea, last years overall champions. After a slow start the team fought back in the last session before lunch to go into the break 4-6 down. During the morning session Daniel Gott, in his first GC game for the club, beat Jim Gregory (-1 handicap) 7-3. Lunch weighed heavily on the Bath team and despite a number of very close games Nailsea ran out winners by 13.5 – 6.5. Tony Curson won his two singles matches in the afternoon session. The other team members were Paul Francis, Norman Connor and Pete Riley. The match was much closer than the score suggests, with many games going to time and golden hoop, as the total hoops scored was 117-101 in Nailsea’s favour over the 20 games.
