CA National Short Lawns Tournament

The clubs first CA AC Short Lawns tournament was played on Sunday 23 July in weather conditions better suited to ducks. Despite the rain 15 competitors played on throughout the day. Based on the mornings block matches the field was split into the Main Tournament and Plate competitions for the afternoon session. In the Tournament semi-finals Geoff Hughes (Nailsea) defeated Margaret Murray whilst Richard Jelly beat Norman Connnor in the other all Bath match. Hughes, who remained unbeaten all day, beat Richar in the final 14-5. In the plate competition Mike Henebury, in his first open tournament, reached the final before being narrowly beaten 11-9 by the experienced Brian McCausland (Nailsea).
