Hot work: Federation (North) victory against a strong Cheltenham side
As the sun rose to its zenith and the lawns got faster, Bath went in to lunch 1-2 down, the doubles pair of Hester Henebury and Bob Hart suffering at the hands of the husband and wife team (HC- ½ & 8), and Richard Jelly losing far too easily; the one comfort of the morning was Ian Morrison’s excellent 26-4 win. Not just the temperatures hotted up in the afternoon. Ian M lost to the Cheltenham’s – ½ but Hester (26-11) and Richard (22-11T) won leaving the match finely balanced in the final game. In the end Bob H won comfortably (11-8T). To date, it would appear that the two Bath teams are the only two in the Federation League to be unbeaten with half the season remaining. The teams next match is a long trawl north to Worcester Norton CC.
