Success in Opening GC Central North League

In the opening match of the GC Handicap Central North division the club entertained Bristol Croquet Club. The home team made a strong start winning both opening doubles through Norman Connor/Miriam Bolger and Tony Curson/Howard Grove. Over the next two rounds of singles the team ended the morning session 8 – 2 ahead with two wins for Elaine Morrison and one each for Pete Riley, Norman, Miriam and Tony. The visitors rallied after lunch winning the two doubles games. The home team came back strongly in the two final singles sessions with further wins for Elaine, Miriam, Pete, Tony and Howard plus a draw for Norman. The final result was a convincing home win 13.5 – 6.5.
