Three Out of Three for Parkstone Team

Bath’s Parkstone Team met Nailsea’s 2nd team at the Rec and were aiming to continue their unbeaten run. Andrew Willis got the team off to a flying start with a comfortable win against Geoff Hughes but had to wait some time before his team-mates, Roger Hayes and Richard Stopforth, were able to win their doubles match against Pat Long and David Hunt. Hayes, up against Hughes and playing at something like his redoubtable best, was the first to win his afternoon singles, securing the match win for Bath. Meanwhile, Willis was struggling for form and was some way behind against Long until the final hour of the match when he snatched an undeserved victory having pegged out one of his opponent’s balls. Stopforth continued to cement his place in the side by winning his afternoon singles against Hunt, resulting in a final match score of 5-0 in favour of Bath.”
