Watford Friendly
The day of the match was fine, sunny but windy, sandwiched between two rainy days (our guest’s match against Nailsea on the previous day was abandoned due to water logged lawns – heaven knows what happened when they reached Dyffryn on the rainy Sunday.
By lunch time it was 3 games a piece and much to play for, including a well fought victory for last year’s beginner, Philip de Glanville. Sadly, Roger Hayes and David Perkins were the only victors by tea time. Final result was Bath 5 Watford 7. Of note: eleven of the twelve matches pegged out (3hr 15min time.)
Watford were excellent company (except when winning, perhaps). They want to come back next year.
