Disappointing Follow up to Dream Start
A disappointing start to the GC Central North season with Bath losing to Camerton by 12 matches to 8.
The cold northerly wind in the morning blowing across the exposed Camerton lawns probably had something to do with a slow start by Bath from which they never recovered. Round 1 consisted of 2 doubles and 2 singles which Bath lost 3-1. Round 2 with 4 singles was also lost by Bath 3-1. It was at this point that Bath started to warm up but did not manage to recover from the 6-2 deficit. Rounds 3 and 4, of 4 singles each were both drawn 2-2. Round 5, 2 doubles and 2 singles was also drawn 2-2.
No one member of the team covered themselves in glory, although mention should be made of Sue Andrew, playing in her first league match, who overcame her nightmare about the match on Sunday night, to finish up all square in her matches.
Camerton put on a good spread for lunch and the match was played in an exemplary fashion. The wind managed to drop in the afternoon, reducing the need to shelter in the Camerton club house at every opportunity.
