Mixed Fortunes for Bath in February
Bath Croquet Club’s Paul Francis continued his good form at Hamptworth last weekend achieving five wins out of six matches to follow up his clean sweep in January. However in a closely fought tournament three players scored two wins each in the top afternoon pool. The title was decided on hoop difference and Francis narrowly lost out to Camerton’s Robin Oldland with Colin Britt, also of Camerton, in third.
Also last week, eight of Bath Croquet Club’s winter members played a friendly Golf Croquet Handicap Pairs match away at Camerton. Bath fielded a mix of experienced match players and inexperienced high handicappers and finally succumbed after a close fought match by ten games to six. A return match at bath is arranged for next month.
