A World Cup format was used; so in the morning the players competed in four mini leagues. The top two in each group then went on to a knock out format in the afternoon.
In the final John Phillips of Bristol Croquet Club defeated Bath’s own Patricia MacGillivray. In the consolation knock out event Bath’s Sue Hoskins defeated Paul Flay of Bristol.
Harry Dodge, one of England’s most promising young players and ex-Bath member, presented the Bath Aqua Trophy to John Phillips (pictured with John on the right) and also a bubbly prize to Sue Hoskins.
